Ruzanska Watermill

In the village of Bistrica, the watermills are like keepers of time,

grinding the past and present into a unique symphony that never stops playing.

About Bistrica

The village of Bistrica is one of the older settlements in this region. The first written mention of this place is in the Charter of Prince Lazar during the founding of the Gornjak Monastery in 1378.

Ruzanska Watermill

The Nikolić Branislav Watermill (Ruzanska Watermill) was built between the two World Wars.

It is characterized by having a porch. Its base dimensions are 7.40 by 3.90 meters. The interior is divided into the milling area with one milling stone, the miller's room, and the porch. The foundations are built with rubble stone, while the part containing the mill is made of oak beams that are plastered with mud mortar on the inside, and the miller's room is built with brick. The ceilings are made of beams, and the roof is covered with pepper tiles. The watermill has been regularly maintained and is currently operational for milling. It is necessary to plaster the walls, whitewash them, and create new beams for the ceiling.
